My fine art training began at the School of Visual Arts in New York city in the late 80's. I excelled in various creative disciplines, painting, sculpture, writing, media and graduated with my BFA majoring in Graphic Design. I went on to develop a successful career working primarily in Manhattan for high profile companies such as

Estee Lauder, Clinique, Avon, Lord & Taylor and a host of design firms and ad agencies. Throughout my life I’ve consistently maintained my creativity through painting and photography. I always knew that at some point I would focus all my attention back to my art. Every different phase of new art was building towards my best quality of work. Since moving to Miami about 2 years ago I've focused solely on developing my art further. Here I am highlighting my work at various stages from the beginning.​

I've returned full-time to fine art, drawing from a lifetime of visual exploration. Since relocating to Miami in 2022, he has immersed himself in developing new collections of work that reflect both personal transformation and environmental influence. His current pieces—ranging from expressive works on paper to bold canvases in acrylic and oil, as well as elaborate digital experimentation—reflect a lifelong evolution of techniques, themes, and emotional tone.Jim’s work invites viewers into a dialogue between texture, space, and emotion—each piece a visual meditation on memory, transformation, and inner landscape.

With a distinct voice refined by decades of creative experience and spiritual inquiry, my art seamlessly blends sophistication with emotional depth, bypasses literal narrative in favor of a broad, singular conceptual approach. Rooted in the lineage of abstract expressionism and influenced by Picasso, my work revolves around one mission: to serve as a channel for universal spiritual energy. In my work, abstract forms and textures represent bodies, domestic objects, and nature's shapes, or, in the purest form, depict energy in the atmosphere similar to music or weather. My work transcends the analytical mind, evoking the emotional resonance cultivated in living through my generation's dynamic artistic and musical experimentation. Ultimately, my work is a visual externalization of my inner journey, expresssing universal emotional themes: love, melancholy, joy, and exuberance."

In recent years

After working on paintings for a year here in MIami I started dto think that each piece was maybe more than one painting - so I started photogrpahing close ups to capture the textures and details I liked most. Then I brought the images into Photoshop and layered those images , then included typogrpahy and other symbols to add patterns and more texture. It allows me to create so many variations much faster than painting but still I am retaining the look and feel of the original art. I love the results.

I've been painting off and on since 1982. I never lost my influences from Art School.... It's been an interesting evolution, with lots of alterations but pretty consistent. Always shapes and texture, abstract expressionism with forms that resemble nature and decorative objects related to the home environment.

Dresses

I first thought of working with clothing a few years ago and when i saw the results of my digital work it was a natural next step. I have a couple dozen designs so far that I will be adding for sale but I need to experiment a bit more with design and fabric oprions.
