“Every child is an artist; the problem is staying an artist when you grow up” – Pablo Picasso.

My fine art training began at the School of Visual Arts in New York city in the late 80's. I excelled in various creative disciplines, painting, sculpture, writing, media and graduated with my BFA majoring in Graphic Design. I went on to develop a successful career working primarily in Manhattan for high profile companies such as Estee Lauder, Clinique, Avon, Lord & Taylor and a host of design firms and ad agencies. Throughout my life I’ve consistently maintained my creativity through painting and photography. I always knew that at some point I would focus all my attention back to my art. Every different phase of new art was building towards my best quality of work. Since moving to Miami about 2 years ago I've focused solely on developing my art further. Here I am highlighting my work at various stages from the beginning.

1986

This time period of course there was no such thing as "digital" anything. I created a series of collages using cut paper, spray paint, xerox copies, acetate and pastel. 36" x 24".

1988

A couple of years after graduating from SVA began really exploring painting ideas with two different techniques in particular. One - a scratching method where I literally would dig into the heavy watercolor paper I used. The second was using a brayer - a roller which allowed me to create layers of texture.

1993

As my life changed so did my techniques. In 1993 I was living in Weehawken, NJ for the first time. I decided to add sand to the gesso as a way to achieve a very tactile texture. 20" x 20".

1995

At this time I had found a spiritual teacher which completely changed my way of thinking. My work took on a more simplified and spacious expression related to breaking down inner tension. Acrylic on heavy weight watercolor paper, 22 1/2" x 30".

2008

I returned to the sensuous lines and abstract anatomical shapes. Acrylic and pencil on paper, 11" x 14".

2012

Living in Miami had the influence of art deco design. Pencil and acrylic on paper. "18 x 24".

2017

Here I'm repurposing my Breyer technique and mixing in some new painterly flourishes. A sense of sensual architecture, softness and structure at the same time. Acrylic and pastel on paper,"30 x 40".

2018

During this time I generated dozens of mostly smaller pieces in mixed media. Light hearted pieces influenced by listening to Strauss. Mixed media.

2019

When I did this series I was looking at Miro. Its so interesting how we incorporate certain elements into our thinking and translate it into our own expression. Pastel and acrylic. Acrylic and pastel on heavy weight watercolor paper, 22 1/2" x 30".

2023

This year I started experimenting with photographing my paintings and creating composite images in Photoshop. I love the effects and adding extra texture and patterns in the program. Maximum size 36" x 48".
